Giant Cuttlefish

Giant Cuttlefish are big. Very big. They can grow up to a metre in length and can weigh over 10kg. In fact they are the largest cuttlefish in the world and they're only found in Australia. We love Giant Cuttlefish.

Like all cuttlefish, they have the amazing ability to change their shape and colouring to match their surroundings.

Some Giant Cuttlefish however, use this ability for more than just hiding. As they only live for 2 or 3 years, they really only get one chance to find a mate and reproduce. If a small Giant Cuttlefish can't compete with a larger male, sneak past their rivals by disguising themselves as females. It's a clear case of survival of the sneakiest.
