Dwarf Lionfish

The Dwarf Lionfish may be small, but he’s still a lion - king of the ocean. Okay he's no Great White, but he can still claim his rightful place at the top of the food chain. Just like lions on land, Lionfish have no known predators.

They have 13 venomous dorsal spines (that's unlucky 13 for anything that tries to eat one) so it's no surprise that they're rarely on the menu. Although Dwarf Lionfish are generally found in warmer water, there are a few that clearly prefer city life, as they have made Sydney Harbour their home.
